The 14th Tripartite Presidents Meeting among NIES, NIER and CRAES

The 14th Tripartite Presidents Meeting (TPM 14) among the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES; Japan), the National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER; Korea), and the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES; China) will be held in Tsukuba, Japan from October 25 to October 27, 2017.

The TPM is an annual meeting which has been held since 2004 with the objective of furthering environmental research in Japan, Korea, and China through efforts among NIES, NIER, and CRAES, the leading environmental research institutions in their respective countries. An International Workshop (IWS) will also be held as the side event of the TPM 14.

1. TPM 14 International Workshop

Every year at TPM an International Workshop on an annually designated theme is held to facilitate information exchange and further research collaboration among the three countries from the perspective of environmental issues in East Asia. In addition to the three Presidents and the researchers affiliated with the three institutes, researchers and administrators from Ibaraki and Shiga Prefectures will come together to present and discuss on the theme of “Solving Freshwater Environmental Problems by Assessment and Management” on October 25, 2017.

2. TPM 14

The three Presidents of NIES, NIER, and CRAES, and researchers affiliated with the three institutes will exchange information and discuss on the progress and means for tripartite development of joint research activities and collaboration on October 26, 2017.

3. Signing Ceremony of TPM 14 Joint Communiqué

The three Presidents of NIES, NIER, and CRAES will sign a Joint Communiqué on matters agreed at TPM 14 on October 27, 2017.

4. Study Visit

Presidents and affiliated researchers of NIER and CRAES visit the NIES Headquarters and its Research Station for Preservation and Enhancement of Water Environment on October 27, 2017.
