Class Oligohymenophora: Subclass Hymenostomata: Order Scuticociliatida (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
Small (about 30 um long), elongate ovoid ciliate. The peristome extends down the body for about two-thirds its length in a slight groove that deepens posteriorly towards the oral aperture which lies in the posterior body third. Membranelle M1 located near the anterior end of the cell and usually short. Membranelle M2 is near the anterior end of the undulating membrane, while membranelle M3 lies close by its posterior end. The bow-shaped undulating membrane lies entirely in the posterior body half. Somatic kineties are longitudinal, either straight, slightly spiral or sinuous. The cytoproct shows up as a slit posterior to the oral aperture in silver preparations. Caudal cilium present. Posterior contractile vacuole. Spherical macronucleus located slightly anterior to the equator. Single freshwater species, in the Antarctic.
