Medium (50-100 um long), slender reniform ciliate that may be colorless or yellow. Anterior keel slightly truncated obliquely. Body laterally compressed. Oral aperture lies in a depression on the right body edge in the anterior body third. A prominent undulating membrane on the right forming a posterior pocket. Membranelles on the left of the oral aperture. Somatic ciliation in longitudinal rows, the ventral kineties meeting pre-orally on the keel. Pre-oral suture absent. Contractile vacuole in posterior body third. Many trichocysts present. Spherical macronucleus centrally located. Single species genus.
