Class Polyhymenophora: Subclass Spirotricha: Order Heterotrichida: Suborder Heterotrichina (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
Transparent medium (45-90 um long), elongate metopid ciliate which is only slightly flattened dorso-ventrally. Body distinctly twisted and covered with a translucent longitudinal rib-like armour which follows the line of the body. The buccal cavity is restricted to the anterior region and the perizonal cilia are located on a distinct hoop-like structure. Somatic cilia in 7 to 8 longitudinal meridians. The cell's transparency means that it is easily overlooked. Sapropelic. The presence of rib-like armour clearly distinguishes this genus from other metopid ciliate genera.
