Trichodinella

Trichodinella Sramek-Husek, 1953 (ref. ID; 2014)

Class Oligohymenophora: Subclass Peritricha: Order Peritrichida: Suborder Mobilina (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
The body is cylindrical, and the peristome is convex. The peristomial wreaths (membranelles) never complete a circle and usually travel through 180-270 degrees. The elements of the aboral disc differ from those of the other mobiline peritrichs since they have a centrifugal process but no centripedal ray. The macronucleus is horseshoe-shaped and lie in a horizontal plane. There are 3 freshwater species which all live on fishes. The genus is most easily confused with Semitrichodina whose peristomial wreaths also turn through 180-270 degrees, but whose denticles possess centripedal rays.
