Body shape elongate, flask-like with anterior neck region. Highly flexible body and neck, flattened. The neck is truncated transversely and carries a short snout-like tip. Oral aperture apically located on snout leading to narrow rounded cytopharynx armed with trichocysts. Body ciliation complete and uniform. Cilia at anterior end longer than other somatic cilia. There is a line of short bristle-like cilia, which represent the dorsal brush, down one edge of the extreme end of the neck region. Macronucleus always in two spherical parts. Contractile vacuole terminal.
