Irregular oval ciliate with anterior snout-like region, very flexible and contractile, contained within a cylindrical membranous lorica which the animal carries whilst swimming. Cirri simple, in 2 longitudinal rows although there may also be a few caudal cirri present. The anterior peristome region large and the zone of membranelles winds down to the cytostome, which is situated equatorially, close to the contractile vacuole. Macronucleus in two parts each with an adjacent micronucleus. Single species genus, originally isolated from Hungary.
