Body outline shape oval with anterior end severely truncated obliquely. Laterally compressed, right (usually uppermost) side with distinct oblique ridges, left (lower) side flattened but slightly concave. Oral aperture oval, apically located with row of cilia along right edge only. Macronucleus spherical, centrally located. 3 contractile vacuoles along ventral edge with long serving canal which extends down ventral edge and around terminal region of cell.
