Parastrombidium Faure-Fremiet, 1924 (ref. ID; 3389, 4894) or Borror, 1972 (ref. ID; 2014)

Body of medium size (95 um), globular, truncated obliquely at the peristomial area. The membranelles of the adoral zone run from the right lateral side of the peristome and end at the left lateral side in the apical rostrum. Somatic cilia cover the whole body except the peristomial area. Occurs in the marine habitat. (ref. ID; 3389)

Descriptions

The body is irregularly globular, truncated obliquely in the peristomial area. This animal possesses a large peristome with membranelles nearly 60 um in length. The buccal cavity is located in the posterior part of the depressed peristomial area where a paroral membrane is present. The circlet of adoral membranelles is open, and runs from the right lateral side of the peristome ending at the left lateral side in the apical rostrum. In Faure-Fremiet's (1924) diagram the different cirri-like membranelles, which are located inside the peristome, are shown. Vibratile and fine cilia cover the somatic area, but do not form rows. The endoplasm contains many granules and no macronucleus could be observed. A marine species. (ref. ID; 3389)
