Monochilum Schewiakoff, 1892 (ref. ID; 2014)

Class Oligohymenophora: Subclass Hymenostomata: Order Hymenostomatida (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
Medium to large ciliate (60-200 um long), elongate ovoid to ellipsoid in shape. Oral aperture lies in the anterior body half usually about a quarter of the cell length from the apical end; is oval in outline and leads to a conical buccal cavity. There is a prominent membranelle on the left of the oral aperture and an undulating membrane on its right. Contractile vacuole in posterior body half, usually close to the equator.
