Body shape ovoid, small (40-50 um long). Oral aperture apical, slit-like surrounded by long cilia. Somatic cilia uniform, covering entire body. Freshwater species have a caudal cilium. Macronucleus spherical central. Contractile vacuole laterally located in posterior body region.
