Descriptions

M. grandis is a large (200 um) cephalized hypotrich possessing 4 large anterior frontal cirri, a midfrontal row (disposed toward the right) consisting of approximately 45 cirri, a group of 10 transverse cirri, and 2 accessory transverse cirri. Both right and left marignal cirral rows are present; left marginal cirri are divided into an anterior row of approximately 46 cirri and a posterolateral group of approximately 13 cirri. Two posterior right cirri probably represent caudal cirri. Membranelles extend only to the anterior of the cell. Numerous macronuclei are present. (ref. ID; 7679)
