Class Oligohymenophora: Subclass Hymenostomata: Order Scuticociliatida (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
Large (120-160 um long) oval ciliated containing many refractile granules giving the cell a dark appearance. There is a small triangular oral aperture in the anterior body half containing a small undulating membrane and 3 internal, inconspicuous membranelles. There is an extra membranelle-like structure situated anterior right to the peristome as is found in the genera Dexiotricha and Paradexiotricha. Somatic ciliation dense and uniform, there is a tuft of caudal cilia present. Ventral kineties on the right of the oral aperture terminate at a transverse cilia-free stripe. Apical pole ciliated. 7 transverse ciliary bands passing from the right side of the peristome onto the dorsal surface. Contractile vacuole with an ampulla-like canal which may be displayed by silver impregnation.
