Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Gymnostomata: Order Haptorida: Family Didiniidae (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body contractile, shaped like an upturned short, wide cone. The anterior surface is wide and concave bearing the oral aperture in the center. Posteriorly the body narrows shapely to a broadly rounded terminal region. The edge of the anterior surface bears a single band of cirri-like organelles which radiate out from the cell. The body behind the cirri is uniformly ciliated. The macronucleus, which is ovoid, and the contractile vacuole are in the anterior part of the cell. Single species genus with symbiotic zoochlorellae present. Has been reported on two occasions, both in Lake Baikal.
