Elongated oval, dorso-ventrally flattened body. 2 rows of marginal cirri and distinct frontals, the 3 most anterior being large. One of the frontals is a buccal cirrus lying close to the undulating membranes of the peristome. Only 2 transverse cirri but a short row of about 10 midventral cirri in the right frontal region which extend obliquely towards the middle of the body at a level just below the peristome. The dorsal surface carries 3 longitudinal rows of cilia. AZM short, restricted to anterior body quarter. 2 macronuclei with 1 or 2 micronuclei. Single species genus, first isolated from soil of tropical grasslands near Lamto on the Ivory Coast, Africa.
