Body shape ovoid, cylindrical to pyriform, often slightly bent to observer's right (animal's ventral surface). Apically there is a short, non-ciliated, retractile, cone-like proboscis containing trichocysts below which there is a basket of fine, paired trichites. Cell covered in cilia arranged in slightly spiral rows. There are a few clavate (clubbed) cilia on the anterior dorsal surface. Macronucleus ovoid in one or two parts. Contractile vacuole posterior.

Descriptions

Body plastic; oval to cylindrical; colorless, narrowly striated; oral cone hemispherical without any trichocysts; among decaying leaves in fresh water. (ref. ID; 1618)

Measurements

Body about 90 um long, when contracted about 65 um in diameter. (ref. ID; 1618)
