Body barrel-shaped with both ends broadly rounded. Oral aperture apical, cytopharynx supported by trichites. Body ciliation takes form of 7 to 8 separate transverse ciliary bands. Each band is composed of a number of short rows of cilia, the 2 anterior most bands being wider than the others. Macronucleus spherical. Contractile vacuole posterior.
