Cyclodonta Matthes, 1958 (ref. ID; 2014)

Class Oligohymenophora: Subclass Peritricha: Order Peritrichida: Suborder Sessilina (ref. ID; 2014)

[ref. ID; 2014]
Body elongate to ovoid in shape contained within a lorica from which it barely protrudes. Lorica erect, borne upon a short stalk and with a simple aperture without valves etc. Body attached inside the lorica via a series of membranes. While Corliss (1979) placed the genus in the family Vaginicolidae. Stiller (1971) is of the opinion that it should be placed in the Lagenophryidae because of its mode of development. The genus is most easily mistaken for Cothurnia where the zooid is attached to the lorica directly without a series of membranes.
