Body shape ovoid, apical oral aperture with a lip-like projection on one side folded over aperture. Ciliation uniform in longitudinal rows. One species found in inland salt lakes contains zoochlorellae. Macronucleus ovoid, centrally located. Contractile vacuole terminal.
