Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Hypostomata: Order Chonotrichida: Suborder Exogemmina (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Elongate, cylindrical body, rounded in cross-section attached to crustaceans by a distinct and elongate narrow region of the body (pseudostyle) which is normally free from food vacuoles. There are no somatic cilia. The anterior pre-oral funnel is large, ciliated on the inner surface, with a distinct spiral-like portion which is composed of several (up to 5) whorls. The funnel is the widest part of the animal and there is a narrow neck region. The ventral wall (rim of outer whorl) of the pre-oral funnel is interrupted by a single notch so that there are two discontinuous ledge-like folds on the whorl rim. The macronucleus is rounded and reproduction is by exogenous budding. The genus is most easily confused with Spirochona which has no notches in the whorl rim and with Serpentichona which has many notches. The genus has only been recorded in Lake Baikal.
