Lorica small, stout goblet-shaped; inner and outer collars developed to form a shallow trough between them, former erect and entire, latter flaring outwards and denticulated with a number of minute triangular teeth; aboral end rounded, pointed, or having a short spine; wall hyaline, fine prismatic structure sometimes visible. Descriptions

Lorica cup-like, 1.5 oral diameter in length; inner collar a little higher than the outer spreading outwardly and having a diameter of 1.1-1.2 oral diameters; bowl slightly inflated in the post-median portion; aboral region rounded, but tapering into a short aboral spine. (ref. ID; 3596)
Lorica stout bell-shaped, 1.3-1.6 oral diameters in length, inner collar high; outer collar flaring, 1.17-1.23 oral diameters in transdiameter, denticulated with about 25 low triangular teeth; bowl conical (15-20 degrees) in the anterior half, widened gradually towards the middle part of the total length, its greatest transdiameter 1.13-1.24 oral diameters; aboral region hemispherical, provided with a short aboral spine tip sharply pointed. Comments

Specimens in this collection are smaller in size than those of the Atlantic (Brandt, 1907: length, 40-50 um) and Mutsu Bay (Hada, 1932: length, 43-47 um). The species differs from A. gracilis (Brandt) in a slight posterior inflation. (ref. ID; 3596)
Differs from Acanthostomella gracilis (Brandt) in having an aboral expansion and the acute aboral end. (ref. ID; 3607)
